Neath Inspired Business Breakfast

A business breakfast in the Ambassador Hotel’s President Suite organised by Neath Inspired Limited attracted over 40 representatives of Neath businesses and other town centre stakeholders.

The event was the inaugural Business Breakfast and is the first of a regular series on networking events for the Neath Business Improvement District calendar.
Robert Williams, Chairman of Neath Inspired Limited Board, introduced the Business Improvement District objectives of increasing footfall into and within Neath town centre and making the town a more vibrant and attractive destination for all. He stressed the importance of partnership working with the Local Authority, Neath Town Council, the Chamber of Trade and other businesses, organisations and stakeholders to achieve its aims.

The site is geared to providing useful information to businesses, local people and visitors, with details of events and businesses.
Businesses present and other BID Businesses are encouraged to visit the site and register their details on the “Contact Page” for inclusion in the Business Directory.

Andrew Shufflebotham said “We need a joint effort from all BID Businesses to promote everything that is good about Neath, and there is a lot. It is a shopping destination with a comprehensive offer of shops, cafes and eating places. It is place to do business whether it is to pay money in or take money out of the bank, shop, buy a house, get married, register a birth, buy stamps, book a holiday and so much more. Talk your town up and encourage everyone to buy local. It makes good sense.

Neath Medieval Weekend

St Thomas’ Church hosted a very well attended Medieval event that attracted an appreciative audiences into town and the grounds of the church on Friday and Saturday 16th & 17th June. With many members of the congregation of St Thomas dressing in traditional costumes.
On Friday, the Focus was on education with over 100 local school children learning about various medieval skills from knowledgeable re-enactors dressed in typical medieval attire. Demonstrations included long bows, arrows, armour, leaded windows, chain mail making, herbs, stry telling and brass rubbing, with a model of Neath Castle and other exhibitions.
Saturday saw the Ammanford Boars re-enactors set up their tents in the Church Yard where other demonstrations including “have a go archery” and sponge throwing at men in stocks were performed.
Swansea Bay Radio supplied music on Saturday and leaflets advertising up and coming events were distributed by their marketing team.
The event was the first of its kind in Neath & it is hoped that it will become a feature of the seasonal calendar of town centre events.
